While many people believe that Jen’s tabbouleh-inspired salad was the salad she ate for ten while shooting the popular 90s sitcom, she actually ate a Cobb salad with turkey bacon and chickpeas.

Sharing the salad with her co-stars Courtney Cox, who played Monica, and Lisa Kudrow, who portrayed Phoebe, the three enjoyed the same salad every day. Although she used unconventional ingredients such as turkey bacon and garbanzo beans, also known as chickpeas, the salad earned a great deal of popularity with her fans. So here’s some tips on how to make Jen’s famous salad that she ate for 10 years while filming F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

So what exactly is a Cobb salad?

Cobb salad is a famous American garden salad consisting of lettuce and other greens, tomatoes, bacon, pieces of chicken, eggs, avocados, blue cheese, and seasoned with French dressing. However, there are variants with numerous other ingredients.

What ingredients did Jen use?

According to a recent interview, the Hollywood star claimed she used shredded lettuce, egg whites, chicken, turkey bacon, a couple of chickpeas beans and a basic vinaigrette. Occasionally, she would even add Pecorino cheese that she brought from a nearby Italian restaurant.

What if I don’t have some ingredients?

You can substitute some ingredients of the recipe for other foods, especially if you want to try a vegetarian version! A list of things to consider:

Lettuce substitutes – spinach, kale endives, radicchio and arugula

Chicken – chickpeas, tofu, cauliflower and plant based chicken

Turkey bacon – plant based bacon, mushrooms and prosciutto

Chickpeas – black beans, green peas and soybeans

How to make the famous salad?

While Jennifer hasn’t disclosed the complete recipe, salad lovers have stepped forward to save the day. It begins with marinating chicken in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight. Additionally, remember to boil your eggs and chick peas. As of now, the only hint we have is that the actress didn’t use many chickpeas as it could be bad for the digestive system.

After this, all your vegetables should be chopped up and placed in a bowl. The next step is to prepare the salad dressing. To make the salad dressing, combine olive oil, vinegar, dijon mustard, salt and pepper in a bowl. Shake the mixture vigorously until it has combined well. Following that, the chicken needs to be cooked; it can either be grilled or air fried.

To finish, assemble the salad. Place the chicken, egg whites, beans, bacon, cheese and greens next to one another. Add the vinaigrette to the salad and toss to combine.
